NYTBR's 100 Notable Books of 2008

The New York Times Book Review has issued this year's list of 100 noteworthy fiction, poetry, and nonfiction titles.

These are certainly stellar works, most of which you will find at TUFL and elsewhere in the Lincoln Trail Library System.

However, it is worth noting that most NYTBR selections are from the titans of New York publishing ... not small or independent publishers such as Graywolf Press, home of Matthea Harvey's Modern Life: Poems (on the list).

When you've finished perusing NYTBR's favorites, check out the products of publishers attending the 21st Annual Indie & Small Press Book Fair this weekend in ... okay, yeah ... New York City. Akashic Books and Seven Stories Press are among my favorites.

Locally, take a look at Spineless Books, Dalkey Archive Press, and the University of Illinois Press.
